Sa Fosca. Escorca

Sa Fosca is our star canyon and well known as one of the best gorges in Europe. In addition to its impressive formations, size and unique qualities, it’s also our longest (6 km) and has more than 30 jumps combined with numerous rappels. The amazing thing about this canyon is that it leaves us in total darkness for almost an hour. It’s a technically difficult canyon, testing our physical and mental condition. The source of the canyon is the Gorg Blau reservoir and throughout the descent we’ll find numerous turquoise colored pools, rappels of up to 18 meters, down climbs and rock jumps. The gorge continuously narrows leaving us eventually in ‘sa fosca’ (‘darkness’ in Catalan), and at which point we dawn our waterproof headlamps and proceed into 450 meters of adventure in the darkness. Having arrived to the end of this gorge we are greeted by the immense walls of s’Entreforc, coinciding with the Torent de Paréis hiking route which we will take steeply up and back to our starting point. This is definitely a serious adventure where we will be required to dominate rappel technique.
